WHAT THEY SAID
&
WHAT THEY MEANT

We all have met people that say one thing and mean another. Many well-known people have spoken out on various topics. We have listed some quotes and what we believe was actually meant.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"There is nothing new and I think the facts are quite helpful here, itís a little bit like what the Republicans and others have tried to do with respect to Benghazi."
- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on new reports that her personal e-mail server contained top secret documents.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
It is a vast right-wing conspiracy.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"Hillary Clinton will be the problem, because I think our campaign is the campaign that is generating excitement and energy that will result in a high voter turnout. Republicans win when voter turnout is low. Democrats win when voter turnout is high. I think our campaign is raising issue about a rigged economy, a corrupt campaign finance system."
- Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on whether he can win the general election.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
My campaign is exciting and people of all ages will turn out to vote for me, I can win a general election, on the other hand Hillary Clinton is boring and no one will bother to go to the polls and vote for that lying untrustworthy bitch who is part of a corrupt campaign finance system and that is a problem for Democrats down-ticket.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"He's a nasty guy. Nobody likes him, nobody in Congress likes him. Nobody likes him anywhere once they get to know him."
- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on rival Ted Cruz.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
Ever since he started to overtake me in the polls I found don't like him.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"Heís very concerned because his poll numbers are going down and he looks very, very nervous."
- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on rival Ted Cruz.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
I'm very concerned my Iowa poll numbers are going down while Cruz's numbers are going up and I am very, very nervous. That is why I take issue with Cruz.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"Here's what I believe. The Democratic Party and the United States worked since Harry Truman to get the Affordable Health Care Act passed. We finally have a path to universal health care. We have accomplished so much already, I do not to want see the Republicans repeal it and I don't to want see us start over again with a contentious debate."
- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Bernie Sanders' plan of Medicare for all.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
Here's what I believe, the insurance companies and I have worked to hard get the Affordable Health Care Act passed. I don't want to see my campaign contributors lose their expensive insurance premiums in Bernie Sanders' plan of Medicare for all.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"He criticized President Obama for taking donations from Wall Street."
- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Bernie Sanders after he criticized Hillary for taking donations from Wall Street.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
If Wall Street money is good enough for President Obama, it is good enough for me.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"We're going to win every state if Bernie Sanders is the nominee."
- Republican presidential candidate John Kasich.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
Republicans will win every state running against a Democratic nominee who is an old Jewish socialist.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"Itís a very small deal, but a lot of people in different sections of the world say 'two,' and Iíve had many, many people say to me."
- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, explaining why he said, "Two Corinthians" instead of "Second Corinthians" during a speech at Liberty University.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
It is a huge deal because it shows I will say anything to win votes even lie about my religiousness.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"I would rather set myself on fire in front of the Fox News studio than go on the debate stage with that."
- MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, on Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly moderating the Republican presidential debate.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
I would make a perfect vice president for Donald Trump.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"He has the ability to bring the world on board."
-Former presidential candidate Lindsey Graham endorsing Jeb Bush for the Republican nomination, on Bush's ability to fight ISIS.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
He has the ability to get the United States stuck in another quagmire just like his brother.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"I guess it's kind of the elephant in the room because my own family going through what we're going through today, with my son, a combat vet, having served in the striker brigade fighting for you all America in the war zone. They come back wondering if there is that respect for what it is that their fellow soldiers and airmen every other member of the military so sacrificially have given to this country. It starts from the top, the question though it comes from our own president, when they have to look at him and wonder, do you know what we go through, do you know what we're trying to do to secure America and to secure the freedoms that have been bequeathed us?"
- 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin campaigning for Donald Trump.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
President Obama is clueless, on the other hand I Sarah Palin know exactly what is going on.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"I did my best to make sure, along with my staff and along with our debate partners, to come up with a schedule that we felt was going ... to maximize the opportunity for voters to see our candidates."
-Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz speaking on CNNís Reliable Sources about the Democratic Party presidential debate schedule.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
I did my best to make sure, along with my staff to come up with a schedule that we felt was going to help Hillary win the nomination.
