WHAT THEY SAID
&
WHAT THEY MEANT

We all have met people that say one thing and mean another. Many well-known people have spoken out on various topics. We have listed some quotes and what we believe was actually meant.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"Iím not here to announce my candidacy for office,"
- Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney before blasting the current Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump as unfit to be the nominee.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
I'm here to announce that I have an open schedule and if a contested convention occurs I am available for the 8 years should someone (wink, wink) require my services.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"Here's what I know: Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud,"
- Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
Donald Trump is just like me.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University. He's playing members of the American public for suckers. He gets a free ride to the White House and all we get is a lousy hat."
- Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on the current Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
When I asked for Donald Trump's endorsement I didn't even get a hat.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"Look at those hands, are they small hands? And, he referred to my hands, if they're small, something else must be small. I guarantee you there's no problem. I guarantee."
- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on rival Marco Rubio's claim that Trump has small hands and therefore a small penis.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
My penis is as big as my ego.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"Here's my message to the Republican Party leaders: Focus more on listening to the American people and less on trying to stifle their voice,"
- Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker, on the Republican establishment attempt to stop Donald Trump from getting the Republican nomination.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
Get use to Donald Trump as the Republican nominee.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"I think it's interesting that Ted Cruz would harm someone that is trying to help the party right now,"
- Republican Ryan Wiggins a Marco Rubio supporter, on Ted Cruz advertising in Rubio's home state of Florida to take out Rubio.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
I am disappointed Ted Cruz would want to win the nomination and not let it go to a contested convention where Marco Rubio might have a chance at it.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"I think this where there's a hunger for a leader, a commander-in-chief who is honest, who has integrity, who exercises good judgement,"
- Former Democratic National Committee vice chair and Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, endorsing Bernie Sanders for president.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
Hillary Clinton has no honesty, integrity or good judgement.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"I have experience at beating people who don't say who they truly are, I have experience at beating people who portray themselves as being one thing but are actually something else."
- Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio when asked what he will do if he doesn't win his home state of Florida's primary contest.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
I refuse to answer the question.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"We knew this would be the roughest period of the campaign, given the makeup of the electoral map,"
- Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio after doing poorly on Super Tuesday and losing in Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana and Maine the following Saturday.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
We had no idea it was going to be this bad.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"He's a nasty guy. Nobody likes him, nobody in Congress likes him. Nobody likes him anywhere once they get to know him."
- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on rival Ted Cruz.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
He is a LOSER!

WHAT THEY SAID,
"If you want to beat him, you have to beat him at the ballot box. Any time you hear people talking about a brokered convention, I think that is the fevered talk of the Washington establishment."
-Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz on not wanting a brokered convention to defeat Donald Trump.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
The only way I can get the nomination is to beat him at the ballot box because at a brokered convention I can't get enough votes to win. Nobody likes me.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"I'm a unifier. I'm very much a unifier,"
- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
I unified the establishment against me.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"People have asked for somebody who is not a politician, who was a member of we the people, who has an outstanding life of achievement and who thinks the way they do,"
- Former Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson after losing badly on Super Tuesday.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
The people have chosen Donald Trump.
