WHAT THEY SAID
&
WHAT THEY MEANT

We all have met people that say one thing and mean another. Many well-known people have spoken out on various topics. We have listed some quotes and what we believe was actually meant.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"In this year's presidential election, we've seen more demagoguery from both parties than I can remember in my lifetime. Our country is facing serious and difficult challenges. But rather than offering realistic solutions, candidates in both parties are blaming our problems on easy targets who breed resentment. For Republicans, it's Mexicans here illegally and Muslims. And for Democrats, it's the wealthy and Wall Street. The truth is: We cannot solve the problems we face by blaming anyone."
- Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
Our country is facing serious and difficult challenges, not because of Mexicans here illegally, Muslims, the wealthy or Wall Street but because of the establishment in both parties that I support however I will not admit it instead I will use demagoguery and blame the candidates offering change.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"We can't continue to allow China to rape our country."
- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, on United States and China trade policies.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
Republican and Democratic politicians have made very sexy trade deals and China took advantage and raped us. All we got is a pregnant ballooning trade deficit with China.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"The only card she has is the woman card, even women donít like her. If she were not a woman, she would not even be in this race."
- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, on Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
She has to run on being the first woman president; no one would elect her on her character or her dismal record.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"Letís be clear, it is virtually impossible for Secretary Clinton to reach the majority of convention delegates by June 14 ó the end of the primary season ó with pledged delegates alone. She will need superdelegates to take her over the top at the convention in Philadelphia. In other words, it will be a contested convention."
- Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
I am in it, to win it! If the superdelegates vote for Hillary they can take it up with the constituents at their next election.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"The energy and excitement in this campaign is with the work we have done. This is an important reality that superdelegates cannot ignore."
- Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, on why superdelegates should vote for him rather than rival Hillary Clinton.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
If Democrats want to win they need our campaign's energy and excitement because Hillary's campaign lacks both.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"One of the reasons this week that I announced Carly Fiorina as my vice presidential nominee is to provide a clear choice, a clear contrast to the voters,"
- Senator Ted Cruz.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
I am playing the woman card.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"She (His wife Karen Kasich) said, ĎThe people need a choice. And if you donít give them a choice, who will?"
- Governor John Kasich on why he stays in the presidential race.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
I plan on staying in the race even after the nomination process is over and keep offering a choice right up to the next Republican convention in 2020.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"Lucifer in the flesh. I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life."
- Former U.S. House Speaker John Boehner on what he thinks of Senator Ted Cruz.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
I really, really don't like the guy!

WHAT THEY SAID,
"I recognize that the media is all eager to talk about an alliance. There is no alliance. Kasich and I made a determination where to focus our energies. Where to focus our assets, where to focus our resources,"
- Senator Ted Cruz, on an alliance between his campaign and the Kasich campaign to defeat Donald Trump.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
There is an alliance but I am not going to admit it.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"Early on Donald did well when there were 17 candidates because he unified his support. He has-- he has an impassioned minority behind him."
- Senator Ted Cruz.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
I wish I had an impassioned minority behind me instead of just a minority.

WHAT THEY SAID,
"Of course not."
- Senator Ted Cruz, when asked if his Republican presidential nomination race is over if he loses the Indiana primary.
WHAT THEY MEANT,
It is not over until I say it's over.
